Galmere Fresh Foods is looking for Production Staff, with or without experience. Whether you’re looking to start a career in the food industry (many of our managers starts at this level), you want a job that can fit around your circumstances (multiple shifts available), or you want a stable position which pays competitively, this Galway based role (Ballybrit) would have you working with a progressive team based working environment.

Galmere’s journey in making great food begins by working with growers and producers to source best available ingredients.  We make soups, salads, meals and sauces for the major food retailers in Ireland; we have our own brands too, Pestle + Mortar pestos and Roots and Shoots plant friendly meals.  We rarely leave an awards ceremony empty handed, which is all down to an incredible team.

Reporting to the Team Leader/Supervisor, we need Production Staff to help us meet the highest level of hygiene, food safety and health and safety standards. The role involves being an integral part of the team, working together across day, evening and night shifts.

Pay rates increase substantially for additional skills and responsibilities, which we encourage and provide routes for.  Good premiums are paid for any work outside normal working hours and overtime.

The environment is a key consideration in our company, since 2017 we have reduced energy usage by 14.5%, have invested in on-site digital farms to reduce food miles and water consumption, and reduced food waste by 31%. We are constantly recreating our products in the name of sustainability.  Every avenue is explored to protect our environment and in 2021 Galmere was awarded Gold Membership of Bord Bia’s Origin Green.

Galmere Fresh Foods is looking for a Senior Food Quality Technologist who is looking for a new challenge with a successful Galway based Irish food business.  It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their career in an ambitious and growing company. This would suit recent food science graduates, or those already working in this area who are looking for a change. We provide full training and opportunities for career development.

Galmere was established in 1989 and is based in a BRC AA and Organic accredited facility in Galway, Ireland.  We produce multi award winning soups, sauces, salads and meals for retailers and brand owners including Cully & Sully, Lidl, Tesco, and Musgrave as well as our own brands Pestle + Mortar sauces and Roots and Shoots plant-based meals.

Galmere is an accredited member of Bord Bia’s Origin Green and in 2021 we have been awarded Gold membership.  Our technical and quality team are directly responsible for driving our sustainability initiatives.  Our investment programme in 2018–2019 reduced energy usage by 14.5%.  We’ve recently started growing our own basil on site in our new digital farm, to use in our Pestle + Mortar brand of pesto’s.  Wherever possible we use recyclable plastic and cardboard packaging, and our food waste has been reduced by 31% from 2018 to 2019.

The Role:

  • Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, 
  • Support the NPD team in the development and implementation of new food product ranges.
  • Work with the operational management team to train, mentor and monitor team members to ensure we maintain our quality standards.
  • Participate with Quality Team in the management of our BRC and customer standards, to maintain audit ready status at all times.
  • Investigating, monitoring, and resolving day to day quality issues and implementing any resulting corrective and preventative actions
  • Carrying out internal system audits and checks, including traceability exercises.
  • Carrying out product and process validations on each CCP in the factory on an annual basis. Drawing up schedule and managing this to ensure completion.
  • Document control and review/approval of controlled documents.
  • Authoring and reviewing of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Handling and investigating customer complaints. 
  • Managing finished product and environmental testing schedules. 
  • Ensuring HACCP principles are continuously met for product safety and process control.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Galmere is looking for food science graduates who are keen to work with an ambitious team, who are looking for a change of role.

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a food production facility.
  • Experience of HACCP & BRC.
