Galmere Fresh Foods is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Manager from the food industry who is looking for a new challenge with a successful Galway based Irish food business. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their career in an ambitious and growing company.

Galmere was established in 1989 and is based in a BRC AA and Organic accredited facility in Galway, Ireland.  We produce fresh food for retailers and brand owners including Cully & Sully, Lidl, Tesco, and Musgrave as well as our own brands Pestle + Mortar sauces and Roots and Shoots plant-based meals.

Galmere is passionate about food and that begins by working with growers and producers to source best available ingredients. Our team strives to exceed expectations by innovating for our clients, crafting the finest, safest food.  We anticipate and research the market, to both set and stay ahead of trends.

Every avenue is explored to protect our environment. Galmere is an accredited member of Bord Bia’s Origin Green and in 2021 we have been awarded Gold membership.  Our technical and quality team are directly responsible for driving our sustainability initiatives. Our investment programme in 2018–2019 reduced energy usage by 14.5%.  We’ve recently started growing our own basil on site in our new digital farm, to use in our Pestle + Mortar brand of pestos.  Wherever possible we use recyclable plastic and cardboard packaging and our food waste has been reduced by 31% from 2018 to 2019.

The Role:

  • Senior management role, providing leadership to the Technical and Quality functions in our business; growing, developing and mentoring our talented professional team.
  • You will understand the vital role that technical capability plays in the development of a successful food business and demonstrate the ambition to build on our current capability, working closely with management colleagues to enhance the capability, performance and reputation of our company.
  • This role reports to the Managing Director and works closely with the Group CEO to develop and implement group quality and technical policies and build customer relationships.
  • Success will be measured by audit performance, both internally and externally, where current BRC AA status or equivalent customer’s audit performance is maintained or achieved with new customers.

Compensation:

Highly competitive benefits package including pension and success-based Incentive Plan.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent organisational and management skills, including the ability to identify, implement and lead change on site through challenging, leading and influencing managers and cross-functional teams on specific projects.
  • 3rd level qualification in a related discipline.
  • 5 years management experience in a relevant FMCG role.

We understand that during the pandemic, finding work or staying safe has been stressful for so many.  To combat this we installed PCR testing equipment on site to keep our teams safe.  All of our team members are provided with N95 masks, and we provide lab results in just over an hour. Your health is important to us as a company and we do all we can to minimise risk.  We are a progressive and equal opportunities employer.
